DIY Holiday Gifts for Your Dog Series: The Seed-Filled Heating Pad
Arts & crafts lovers…rejoice! There’s more crafty projects in our DIY Holiday Gifts for Your Dog Series, courtesy of Vicki Rae Thorne of Earth Heart, that wonderful brand, making medicinal aromatherapy sprays for dogs.
Today, we tackle the seed-filled heating pad. And, who better than to get guidance on a crafty project than Martha Stewart! The adorable illustration above is by Griffin Thorne Illustrations.
Let’s discover the art of the seed-filled heating pad.
The How-To’s, Why’s and Wheretofore’s of the Seed-Filled Heating Pad
After a nice romp in the snow, it’s great to come inside to get toasty warm. We can make our pups a heating pad for their favorite cuddle spot or dog bed. Yum!
Some soft fabric, filled with dried cherry pits, buckwheat, rice or (our favorite) flax seed holds the heat. I would recommend using the buckwheat, rice or flax seeds, as cherry pits are toxic to dogs. Your dog will thank you for it on those extra cold winter nights!
Ms. Martha’s DIY heating pad instructions, with a handy video demonstration, are here.
All brought to you by Earth Heart’s Canine Calm, helping our dogs stay anxiety-free during the winter holiday season and beyond! Canine Calm continues to help my Sophie, naturally, and Travel Calm was our lifesaver with Jasper, during our car trip vacation in September. I’d never travel without it, again! 🙂
