52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge: Week #4 – Dream
This is one of the most snuggly pictures I’ve taken of Sophie. It was the morning of her last birthday, when she decided to sleep in. Lord knows what she was dreaming about that day. Probably the squirrels in Madison Square Park and what raucous game of fetch she would play with mommy later.
Truth be told, Sophie would sleep in every morning, if she had her druthers. She’s a late to bed, late to rise kinda girl (like her mom). 🙂
But, on this particular morning (and this was pre-Jasper becoming part of our family), Sophie got extra cuddles. You’ll notice she’s got a baby blanket wrapped around her scrawny little frame. That’s my daughter Morgan’s old baby blanket. It’s ok. Morgan won’t be using that anytime soon; she’s about to turn 29.
Because nothing’s too good for our fur babies, Sophie immediately inherited Morgan’s blanket as soon as we brought her home. Morgan wasn’t surprised. She’s rolled her eyes, shaken her head and smiled for years as I called her and my fur babies the same nicknames. She’s used to them being referred to as her brothers and sisters.
Sophie had a grand birthday last year. She got new treats, toys and tushy rubs (her favorite). Do you marvel, in the nicest possible way, at how good a life your pups have? As people have said to me, “When I die, I want to come back as your dog!” It don’t get much better than that. 🙂
I hope you’ll join me and participate in the 52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge. It’s an opportunity to share a picture you’ve taken of your pet(s) each week, improve your photography and just plain have fun! It was launched by fellow pet blogger, Christina Berry of The Lazy Pitbull, but you don’t have to be a pet blogger to do it!
Here’s the list of weekly themes we’re following; this week’s is Dream. It’s also a blog hop, so you can join up for that, too! When you post your pic on social media, just hashtag #52Snapshots so we can all follow along!
I just love that Sophie has your daughter’s baby blanket. Obviously having Sophie in your life is a dream come true.
🙂 thanks for this. made me smile. Sophie is my second baby girl, and with my first having flown the nest, little Soph fills my heart. And, so does her brother, Jasper, our little tough guy rescue.
Haha that’s so true, our son is 23 and I sometimes wonder how he likes being referred to as our dog’s “brother”. He loves Toby now although when we first got him, he thought Toby was bad. Why? He’d never been around a puppy before!
LOL. They’re all our kids; why distinguish? Morgan still rolls her eyes when I talk about Sophie like she’s her little sister. Her dog is a 75 lb Shepherd Lab mix and Mackey is her buddy. Which is nice, too. 🙂
Now that is a cozy dog…it definitely don’t get much better than that! Our household is pretty much early to bed, early to rise, but I sure wouldn’t mind if the dogs wanted to sleep in just a bit longer…..
It definitely has it’s advantages and disadvantages. When we want to get up or have to get up early, we have to practically drag them out of bed! LOL
Sure looks like a comfy place for dreaming! We are early to bed, early to rise around here. I think it is partly genetic and partly what you are used to.
Agreed. I came from the music industry, where it was late to bed, late to rise, so even my daughter was always a late riser and the dogs always followed suit. 🙂
Sweet dreams, Sophie. Hey, is that the Madison Square Park in NYC? TW worked near there.
Yup! We live close by.
