She shone like a furry, little beacon. Sophie lit up the neighborhood recently, when I tested a new light up harness the folks at Mhu Ghu generously sent to us. When it arrived and I took it out of the package, I was all excited. I liked how substantial it looked and felt. I could tell the workmanship was there. I also really liked the mesh harness material, that it was soft and pliable, yet felt strong and was breathable. I also liked that you could easily adjust the fit. When I put it on her, I was able to make it loose enough to be very comfortable.
When we took it out for a test spin, heads turned. We’d selected a green L.E.D. light, but it also comes in red, blue and clear. Lots of people smiled, some pointed, some commented on how cool it looked. New Yorkers are anything but shy. 🙂 And, Sophie strutted her stuff like she knew she had it going on! But, more important than style (did you ever think you’d hear me say that?) , let me tell you, from my own experience, why this product is such a great dog mom’s helper and potential life saver.
Walking on the streets of New York City can be a dangerous proposition for us humans. For pups, especially little ones, it’s a veritable mine field of mishap. An L.E.D. collar or harness can only help and may save their lives. In the city, there are always a lot of people on the sidewalk. During the day, I act as Sophie’s look out, navigating her out of harm’s way in the form of feet, other dogs who are bigger, glass, garbage, you name it. At night, I do the same, but the L.E.D. harness is my co-pilot. People notice her, even the tall dudes, and step out of the way. And this baby is visible up to 1000 feet!
I loved it so much, we took the harness down to Florida with us. We stay in a suburban neighborhood. It’s not heavily trafficked like Manhattan, but there are cars. The little fashionista turned heads again, and the harness worked beautifully. When we walked her on a busier road, it was obvious that cars spotted her immediately, probably before they saw us. I can imagine how, living in a place where there are no sidewalks on busy roads or where dogs run freely, it would give you more peace of mind. For us, the Mhu Ghu L.E.D. harness is, as Lori Grenier says on Shark Tank, “a hero, not a zero”!
