My Top 5 Halloween Costumes & Why I Love ‘Em!
A racedog, arachnid, demon or dino…dogs are strutting in style this Halloween. With manufacturers upping the ante in terms of sheer numbers of choices, how are we going to break it down? We want original, cute and comfy, and something that won’t break the bank. Here are my top 5 Halloween costumes and why I love ’em. Save time and take the guesswork out of it. Here’s what I’ve found.
The Show Jockey Saddle Harness
Saddle up and ride! This very cute costume from Zack and Zoey is a winner! The navy and white jockey silks are a standout; the adjustable neck and belly harness with secure clasps is comfortable and heck, if it isn’t the cutest thing! A triple threat! And, it won’t break the bank at $23.00. Also available on Amazon for a bit less, but only in a Medium.

Neon Spider Princess
Does your pup spin a web of seduction…with kisses, that is? Then, maybe this Neon Spider Princess costume will fit to a t! The creepy chic confection features a shimmery spider web embellished tulle skirt and black widow wings. Unusual? Check! Sexy? Well, yeah! And with velcro closures at the neck and chest to keep it on securely, this lightweight and very reasonable standout is perfect!

Sizing: XS – XL

Dogula
Doesn’t this little Chi fella look a bit like a vampire bat? Those cute, bulgy eyes and little fang teeth? He’s a very stylish vamp in a costume I love for its materials, splashes of color and secure fit. Made from a poly/cotton satin blend, the costume features an all-white body, with a chartreuse vest, black cape and violet collar (talk about popping one’s collar!). The red bow reverses to a violet option. It’s all secured via a velcro panel that runs from the neck down the belly for a comfortable, very secure fit. Can you say Transylvanian Taco Dog?

Sizing: 0 – 6
Price: $37.00 – 43.00 depending on size
Animal Planet Peacock Costume
Animal Planet has come out with some really cool costumes this year. Sophie is going to be a butterfly, courtesy of them, and I’ll be doing a post on what they are offering as soon as Sophie’s arrives and she can model it for you! (she oughta love that)
I also love this dazzling peacock; sure to be a standout this year. And, while the body of the costume is comfy enough in a soft poly, if your dog objects to the headpiece with the tabu faux fur crest, you can always remove it and they’ll still look great. A elasticized neckline allows this to be put on like a jumpsuit, but measure your dog carefully. Spot clean only.

Pirate Dog
For those who love the uniqueness of hand made to order items, I love this one. It’s creative, funky and fun. Etsy shop RuffleRunway, out of Georgia, created this spooky cute costume and you can be sure, no one else will have it. Made from a soft, cotton fabric with intricate black lace detailing on the skirt, at the waist and on the skull cap, designer Debra Koch even found little skull button embellishments, and silver chain detailing to complete the look. A sparkly tulle underskirt. Velcro closures. This costume will cost a bit more, but if exceptional originality is what you’re after, it’s worth it!
Where to buy: RuffleRunway
Sizing: Starts at XS and goes to Medium, but it’s made to order so measure carefully and contact shop owner for questions
Price: Starts at $60.00 and goes up from there, based on sizing.
