The Celebrity Spot – A Happily Married Hollywood Couple Who Love Animals

She’s a Chanel muse; the new face of L’Oreal and Gucci’s Premiere; a TV star; a chocolate chip with pecans cookie fan and foodie; a Ryan Reynolds fan. He’s a movie star; People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2010; a marathon runner (in honor of his dad with Parkinson’s); a motorcycle fan; an art enthusiast; funny; self-deprecating; a Blake Lively fan. And they’re both big fans of animals. I’m talking about Ryan Reynolds and  Blake Lively, a (wait for it) happily married Hollywood couple. Says Mary-Louis Parker, who co-starared with Reynolds in the film, R.I.P.D., in a Details interview, “He has this gorgeous, sweet, kind wife. Together, they’re really well-suited.”

When Ryan and Blake started dating and, eventually, married, they brought their own furry family members together, too. Blake’s cute-as-a-button Blake LIvely with Penny and Ryan Reynolds' dog BaxterMaltipoo, Penny, met Ryan’s sweet, happy rescue boy, Baxter and they co-exist, despite their disparate sizes.  You can see they take these pooches pretty much everywhere  – to the set, on frequent trips to the park or walks around New York or L.A. – despite both leading very busy lives. Lively is often captured with Penny and Baxter in tow.

Blake is getting ready to launch her new website brand, about which she describes, “The main element of it is that it’s about storytelling and it’s about living a very one-of-a-kind, curated life, and how to achieve that.”  She goes on to say it will have a little bit of everything – food, fashion and more. She’s also representing a plethora of major brands, mentioned above.

Ryan has two movies coming out. He was shooting the Marjane Satrapi-directed The Voices recently in Berlin,  in which he plays a deranged bath-tub factory worker who has conversations with his dog and cat (ok, nothing weird there; we all do that)…and his cat tells him to kill people. Yup, that sounds bizarre. Apparently, Reynolds is very afraid of cats. One scene called for him to give the cat a hug. I guess he was a bit rough in his approach, because the cat freaked out and scratched his arm! Most of the scenes with him and the cat were shot separately. Oops.

The other film is the Atom Egoyan-directed psychological thriller, Queen of the Night. Ryan plays a father searching for his abducted daughter.

Ryan Reynolds with his dog BaxterWhile Reynolds may not be a cat lover, he and Lively do love all sorts of animals. They recently were invited to tour the Science North animal center in Ontario, Canada, where they got close to a variety of creatures, including resident porcupine, Quillan (haha…), Drifter the beaver, some flying squirrels and a tarantula. It was reported that the tarantula, especially, took a particular liking to Lively. Not surprising. This for a girl who is obsessed with YouTube animal videos. In an interview with The Cut, Blake mentions a favorite, The Hound & the Orangutan. I watched this…it’s one of the most incredible love stories ever! Check it out.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds; two beautiful people who seem to be on the inside, too. Do you have a favorite celebrity dog? Tell me about it.

Until next time…
