The oracle of color has spoken. In the world of color, Pantone is the almighty proclaimer of trends. And, its just announced the Pantone Color of 2015. You may remember from this blog that Radiant Orchid reigned as the color of 2014. This will be the year of Marsala. Its warm, earthy, rich tones, named from the full-bodied wine of the same color, will make an appearance on runways, in home decor, beauty products and more. For us, how can we assimilate this and other earth tones, also a big trend for 2015, into our dog’s wardrobe and do it with stylish panache? That’s exactly what tips I’ll be giving you today!
It’s no accident that Marsala is reminiscent of the 70’s. I remember cords, tops and shoes in this color from way back then. The 60’s and early 70’s style is back with a vengeance and the versatile marsala works. Whether you’re buying a garment in the elegant color or pairing it as an accent with others, marsala will lend a sophistication to the earthiness that is sublime! Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,
commented Leatrice Eisman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®.
Here is some food for thought on looks and ideas that incorporate marsala and other earth tones, also very popular this season.
Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this beautiful and classic Inamorada Coco carry bag blends gorgeous shades of marsala, pinks and gold for a knit pallette perfect for the season. This bag is so versatile, it will go with almost anything, from a great pair of jeans to shades of browns, black, pink, golds and more. Sophisticated and comfy for your pup, with a soft interior and a pull out cushion for easy cleaning.

The newest Couture by Sophie coat, The Abigail, features a riot of color, including earthy browns, deep wine and rich marsala. Dotting the landscape are small Swarovski crystals. Finished with a faux chocolate fur collar, embellished with a flower design of brilliant Czech crystals, the coat is lined in a deep burgundy satin. A panel of poly batting between layers insures warmth, as does the full coverage design. The coat slips over the head with a panel that completely covers the dog’s chest. Velcro closures at either side of the chest secure the coat.
I fell in love with this fabric when I saw it while shopping, and had to buy to make Sophie a coat! 🙂 Other colors and fabrics available.

A stunning example of marsala home decor for the pampered pooch, this chenille mini couch is both a beautiful addition to the right home and a piece of art in itself. Each tuft features a crystal center. Faceted crystal balls function as the legs. The couch comes in two sizes to accommodate dogs of up to 35 lbs, but would recommend for dogs that aren’t overly active, so as not to destroy the fabric. This is a spot clean only piece.
