Scrunchies are back, and not just for us! A new brand, Schmoozies, has devised the clever scrunchie. It sings, dances….uh, no, no, no. 🙂 What it does, is hold your dog’s ID tag and contains a small pouch where you can insert a special aromatherapy wafer to help alleviate certain issues your pup may have. Schmoozies are a colorful, adorable, lightweight dog collar. Form meets function; I love it! There’s a great Schmoozies giveaway, so read on for details!
Schmoozies is the brainchild of Hope Schultz, a former advertising and marketing executive. She was inspired by her senior dog, Max, after a scary experience.
One day while Hope was away, Max’s dog walker let him out to play in the yard. Normally, Max wouldn’t have been wearing a collar, because he had neck problems. But, thankfully, he was wearing it that day, because he got out and went visiting with a neighbor! Max was always the ultimate schmoozer…hence, the name. 🙂 The neighbor was able to contact Hope from Max’s ID tag info, and he was returned safely, thank goodness. But, the experience got her thinking. She didn’t want to ever lose her beloved best bud.
So, she took one of her headbands, looped Max’s ID tag through it and put it around his neck. Who knew people would start asking where she got the collar! Its popularity spawned Schmoozies, and off Hope and Max went on their mission to “bring safety, security and style to every pet on the planet,” as the website describes.
Sadly, Max didn’t get to continue on the journey with Hope. He passed away in December of 2013. But, his memory lives on with the work Hope is doing to equip other pups and their parents with the protection of wearing ID comfortably, and the added ability to help heal a condition.
The Healing Oils…
The aromatherapy piece of this product is so cool. There are four scents to choose from, each comprised of a different blend of healing essential oils: Allergy, Digest & Nausea, Fleas & Ticks and Stress & Anxiety. I think most of our pups fall into at least one of those categories! 🙂
Hope discovered these oils when, in Max’s later years, he’d developed dementia. Hope didn’t want to drug him with pharmaceuticals, so she did a lot of research and tried several natural products. This formulation, created especially for dogs, was the only one that worked.
She stresses on the site that you should consult with your vet if your dog is on any medication, to make sure the essential oils don’t interact negatively with it. Also, you should test the scent on your dog, by putting a small amount on a cotton ball and waving it by their nose. If they recoil from the scent or turn away, they’re telling you it’s not for them, and don’t use it. Animals have such a highly sensitive sense of smell, and they know what they need and want.
If your pup likes the scent, the oils are only intended for use in conjunction with the scent wafer, inserted into the pocket on the inside of the Schmoozie, and should be securely positioned between the snap closure.
Giving Back…
What I also love about Schmoozies is their One-to-One program: for every Schmoozie you buy, they donate one to a shelter. They do quarterly runs to donate a whole bunch of collars to dogs less fortunate, so they can be protected and look beautiful, too!
Hope is a busy lady! She also founded and remains on the board of directors of webvet.com, the premiere online resource for vet-approved, health-related pet content.

I love discovering products that help us solve problems as pet parents. Having a comfortable, lightweight way for your pup to wear ID tags, especially for dogs who are elderly or have neck conditions like Max, is critical. My go-to for tags is PetHub.com, for all of my pets, because they combine everything in one place – a QR code, GPS tracking, a 24-hour found pet hotline, a pet DNA component and a comprehensive online pet profile, detailing medications, food allergies, preferences, and more. And, that’s why I love Schmoozies, because they address this important issue and bring added value through healing aromatherapy. With Schmoozies, your pup gets to look fabulous, too!
