Jasper chases lizards, is our home’s self-subscribed protector, was rescued and is very loved. Wouldn’t it be great to honor and celebrate the adventures and attributes of his life and ours together? I found a beautiful way to do that walking the aisles of Global Pet Expo this year in a bead charm bracelet meets dog collar created by Bella & Beau.
What I so love about this product is its thoughtfulness and quality. With over 200 charms to choose from, and a nice leather collar in three color options – always chic black, candy pink and an aquamarine blue called Bella & Beau Blue – I felt like a kid in that candy store assembling my cart full of high quality, silver charms that represented my boy’s unique life.
And, it is unique. Just like every child is different, so is every dog. The combination of their story, what they love and the adventures they have are theirs alone. As Bella & Beau puts it: “Every piece says, ‘Remember when we did THIS together?'”
I caught up with company founder, Jim Broshat, and asked him the inspiration for the brand. “I was out walking my dog one night, and I couldn’t remember how old she was,” he explained. “I love my dog; I just don’t have a good memory for those things, and it got me thinking: what would be a unique way to celebrate and share the things about my dog that she loves or that we do together? Charms made sense.”
The charm collar is easy to assemble. The necklace part of the collar easily attaches to and detaches from a catch on either side, and the charms slide on and off. See here.
And, sharing these experiences with your dog meant mom needed something, too: our own charm bracelet. We could choose matching charms or ones that describe how we feel about our dog and the adventures we share; something we can look at on our wrist maybe when we’re traveling or at work, away from our babies.
Both the charm collar chain and bracelet are made from a shiny, silver base metal that never tarnishes, so it maintains that fresh, new look always.
You know by now that this girl likes a bit of bling, and Bella & Beau didn’t disappoint. Using genuine Swarovski crystals, some of their charms sparkle and others utilize enamels that have that wonderful pop of color to make your charming collar or bracelet stand out even more.
What makes your dog’s day?
Maybe a game of frisbee. Or, possibly yours is a pampered princess. Because the quality is so high, the price point isn’t cheap, but most charms won’t cost more than $29.99, with the exception of a couple of crystal-encrusted ones that go up to $49.99. Others start at $19.99. So, what many do is collect them over time.
“Customers have told me they ask their children to purchase charms for them for holidays or birthdays,” Jim shared. It becomes an even more special bond between you and your dog in the acquiring of the charm beads themselves.
And, each bead tells a story; a great way to share about your adventures with your dog with other pet parents.

Bella & Beau were very generous to Bark & Swagger, and offered Jasper a collar with some charms. But mom, here, wanted to jump start Jasper’s charm collection, so I ordered a few more on my own (I’m a terrible window shopper!).
When Jas’ collar arrived, it came in a beautiful box, with each charm individually boxed, too. Even the packaging is upscale, with every detail thought through.
We were (well, I was) super excited and couldn’t wait to assemble Jasper’s collar and try it on him. Some of the beads I chose? The Rescued & Loved charm, the I Will Protect charm, a “J” charm, a blue enamel paw, a Key to My Heart bead, a Lucky Dog charm and more. And, I liked the idea of a black collar on my black dog, so the charms would pop even more. And, they do.

We’ve just celebrated Memorial Day, honoring the men, women and K9’s who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy in this country today. I was just reading about how, in Iran, walking your dog is punishable by 75 lashes and a fine of over $2,000. And, they can seize and destroy your dog, all because ruling clerics deem dogs to be impure. We certainly have problems in our own country, but we are very blessed to be able to create meaningful lives with our pets and celebrate them openly.
And, for this fashion-loving dog lover, honoring my fur kids and sharing our bond is a must. Bella & Beau let’s me do it in style.
