National Best Friends Day: Sophie & Jasper
Today’s National Best Friends Day and I would’ve gotten this post up earlier, but we have a new baby boy in the house. Yesterday, we adopted Jasper from Animal Care & Control in New York City. I’m not going to go into the really cool story of how Jasper came into our lives or even much about him, because I’m writing an entire post about it all. But, I will say that while Sophie and Jasper are working out the kinks in their relationship including boundaries and some power struggles, my husband and I can see a budding best friendship in the making. Sophie knows when to tell him no, and he listens. Who could ask for a better man! Ladies, are you with me on that? 🙂
There’s a sweetness about this boy. Don’t get me wrong; he’s a little bull in a china shop, but underneath a complete lack of training (yes, even housebreaking), there’s this great dog. So, on National Best Friends Day, I’m honoring Sophie and Jasper’s new friendship, and hoping over time, it blossoms into truly best friends.
Do you have a best friends day story? Please share it with me in the Comments below.
That is so sweet! Looks like they’ll be inseparable in no time at all 🙂
They are! It’s one of the coolest parts about getting Jasper is to witness the bond that’s developed very quickly. They wait for each other, have their play games already; Jasper will even get very close to Sophie on walks where he’s feeling a bit insecure, and flip her leash with his nose over his head so he can feel it on him. They’re very intuitive and emotive. Amazing thing about animals.
