Today is a very special day for our family. It’s Jasper’s first Gotcha Day! One year ago, we picked Jasper up from Animal Care & Control in Harlem, New York, and brought him home to join our family. He was smaller, lighter in weight, darker in color and quieter than he is today. We introduced Sophie to him outside and, once we got them into the apartment, were thrilled at how well they got along.
You may have read about our adventures and challenges with Jasper. We very quickly learned we had a doggy with baggage. But he’s come a long way, baby! 🙂 And we’re so so proud of him and happy for him that he’s now a much happier, less anxious, friendlier and more social boy.
To celebrate, mom baked him a healthy doggy cake, filled with yummy salt and sugar-free peanut butter, apples, an egg and some baking powder. Easy peasy for a non-baker type like myself! 🙂 What ensued when I served it to the pups was funny, and I’ve captured in pictures, below.
The great news is that both Jasper and Sophie loved it! Of course, nothing is neat and orderly when it comes to our terrier terror, Jasper. Midway through taking pictures of him, wearing a lovely bow tie collar sent to Jas from our friends at Buggsly, he heard something outside, ran through the doggy door and out into the backyard. And then, he promptly fell into the pool! Yup. So in the last couple of pictures, Jasper is wet, the bowtie is soggy but both dogs are very happy. And really, what else could we ask for, right?
Happy Gotcha Day, Jasper, sweetheart! Here’s to many, many more.
Trying to get hungry, impatient pups to pose for party pics? Here’s what they might be “saying” to each other)…
And finally, what they were waiting for…
Happy Gotcha Day Jasper! >^^<
Thanks, Tiff! He (and Sophie, too) had a great time!
