52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge: Week #5 – Winter
The winter blahs. Humans aren’t the only ones who get ’em. Less Vitamin D, shivers, layering up to go out and de-layering to come in. This was taken last winter during a string of snow days here, when it was tough for Sophie to go out and do her business. She braved it, the tough little cookie, but you could tell she wasn’t having too much fun. It’s those feet; she doesn’t like to get those dainty little paws wet.
Don’t tell the other Portuguese Podengo Pequenos; they’d have a good laugh. “We’re hunters, after all,” they’d say. “Humans bring us out to do the dirty jobs no one else would – run up cliffs, stick our heads down holes – all to ferret out that dang rabbit, so our bigger Podengo brothers and sisters (the Medio’s), can take over and finish them off.”
Sophie never got that memo. For as long as I’ve known her (since she was three months old), she’s been a delicate flower who, I have to admit, plays with the gusto of a whirling dervish.
Jasper, on the other hand, snow frolicking. But, here, unless you go to Central Park, it’s more like snow pile frolicking, on street corners where it builds up a bit. Not exactly a true winter experience, but he doesn’t know that. He’s happy. It’s the cold temperatures he wants no part of, as he tugs to pull us inside.
Here, Sophie is looking out her living room window, maybe thinking, “Jeez, really? Snow again?”
As you might’ve guessed, this week’s theme in the 52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge, is Winter. I’m lovin’ the #52Snapshots challenge. I get to take pictures of my babies and share them, re-discover older pics I’d forgotten about and connect with fellow pet bloggers and animal lovers, in general. What’s not to like?!
You, too, can join in the fun! You don’t need to be a pet blogger. Just link up to the challenge via our fearless 52 Snaps leader, Christina Berry of The Lazy Pitbull, a very informative and cool blog I recommend you check out. (www.thelazypitbull.com).
Each week, snap a shot of your pet in a setting that depicts that week’s theme, and then share on your social networks. Here’s the schedule of themes:
If you’re in, remember to hashtag your social media shares with #52Snapshots so we can all follow along. Stay tuned for next week’s challenge – Create. Ooo…sounds like an art project!
This is also a BlogHop, so if you have a blog and want to link up your post to everyone else’s, see the linky link below!
Does your pup love or hate the snow? Tell me!
It’s hard to maneuver all those snow mountains out there when you’re so little! Keep warm, and happy Winter!
Tell me about it! LOL That’s why we just moved down to Florida! 🙂
Oh, Sophie, I completely understand your reluctance to go out and do all that dog stuff that people say your breed is supposed to do. I’m a Golden Retriever, but my humans call me a Golden Receiver. Why should we work when our humans are so willing to work for us? Wishing you an early spring, sweet girl.
Sophie says you’re speaking her language, Miss Harper Lee! She’s said, I give! I quit! I’ve had enough!…and moved her cute tush down to sunny Florida, where she’s now playing in the backyard with her brother, Jasper, in the warm sunshine. And her mommy and daddy are pretty happy about it, too. 🙂
I’m with ya, Sophie 😉
You know what I’m talkin’ about! 🙂
Sophie, your secret is safe with us. Bentley is a hunting breed that hates the sound of gunfire. We feel your pain. BOL!
Sophie says thank you, MK. She thinks Bentley sounds like a smart pup!
Luckily we didn’t get all the snow they promised. I’m inside with Sophie. It’s brutal out there.
Hi Cathy! So sorry for the late reply. Just finished a big move out of state. Since I posted this and you replied, we’ve had more snow, much more frigid cold and haven’t left the apt for more than doing our business walks. Hence, the move out of state to a warmer climate. Sophie and the rest of her fam had enough! 🙂
Go ahead and send the snow to my house. We all love it and can’t get enough of the stuff. Cute pic.
Hi Emma! So sorry for the late reply. Just saw this; have been in the midst of a big move out of state. Wish I’d seen while still in NYC; would’ve sent the snow and all of the frigid temps your way! LOL We had enough and moved to a warmer climate!
