Great DIY Holiday Gifts for Your Dog-Indoor Games on www.BarkandSwagger.com

Brrrr…it’s getting cold outside, so the long walks of fall and summer past are over. It’s not safe to have our pups outside for extended periods, when the thermometer dips below freezing. How do we engage and stimulate them when they’re cooped up indoors? The next in my DIY Holiday Gifts for Your Dog Series will solve the problem!

Dogs love to play games with us. Seems Sophie is always prompting me to challenge her in a game of fetch, and she loves to use her wits to capture a toy during hide and seek. There are great interactive puzzles and games by industry gurus like Nina Ottosson, which we also love. But, today, we’re getting crafty and making our own, and you’ll be surprised at how many fun and useful games you can create to entertain you and your dog.

Leslie from Raise A Green Dog has shared some great ones.  From her “Find the Target” version of hide and seek to the Muffin Tin Game, there’s no shortage of indoor fun.

This DIY series is brought to us by my friend, master herbalist Vicki Rae Thorne, of Earth Heart, a wonderful brand making medicinal aromatherapy mists for dogs. Bark & Swagger is a big Earth Heart fan and highly recommend Vicki’s blends, Canine Calm and Travel Calm.

Both are great to have around for the holidays. Canine Calm will lower anxiety your pup might feel around all the hoopla of family or friends visiting. And, if you’re taking a trip, Travel Calm can be a lifesaver to get past travel sickness. It was for us.
