At the shelter I volunteer for, a staff person and I recently tried a Suitical Recovery Sleeve® on Benny, one of their dogs who’d had an operation to repair a badly healed broken bone in his leg. When we unwrapped the sleeve, the first thing we noticed is how soft it felt. We liked the feel of the cotton and the stretch it had. It came in black, but has this bright blue lining we thought was really cute.
It was very easy to put on, and with some adjusting the closure around the chest, fit really nicely on Benny. We had him walk in it and liked that it didn’t impede his movement at all. Sophie in her Recovery Suit
While my own dogs haven’t needed the sleeve as yet, the Suitical Recovery Suit® practically saved our lives a couple of weeks ago, when my Sophie had a terrible reaction to a finishing spray a groomer put on a bandana around her neck. It was such a bad reaction, she needed to see a dermatologist, go on medication and we were unable to get the reaction under control, even with antihistamines, for a week. My dog has allergies all year round. Poor thing scratches constantly if she does not take her pill. She sometimes spits it out. She has scratched herself so severely that she has taken off hair and has cuts on her body. This would be good for her. She has torn up many tshirts.

This would be great for keeping my pups from licking or biting a sore spot or wound.
It so worked for us with Sophie. And, I was always looking for what to put on hot spots besides product, to cover the area long enough for it to start to heal and stop itching. Thanks for commenting, Ann, and good luck!
Our worst issues with regard to one of the dogs needing something like this would have been on their back legs. My senior girl, Suki, who I lost in April (she was over 15) had surgery to remove a mass on her right, back leg a number of years ago. She had the stitches pulled out before we even got her home, and I had to take her back to the vet for new stitches more than once and had them rewrap the leg multiple times. However, she wasn’t licking or chewing, but she’d push her hip and leg against the wall in the hallway and it would shift the wrap and pull on the stitches. To have something like this over the area would have saved many hours of running her back to the vet and of course, the added cost of the new stitches and wraps. Then, last year, my Kyoko (she’s about 8 now and came to me from a high-kill shelter in SC where she was dumped after almost being starved) chewed on a small mass on her right, back leg (same leg Suki had her issues with). Kyoko wouldn’t leave it alone, and even regular medical wrap didn’t stop her. The leg got infected and it cost us vet bills to get the area cleaned and drained and of course the antibiotics. One of my boys managed to hurt one of his front legs and was constantly wanting to lick and chew on the area. This would have been perfect for Seiji.
I hear you, Linda. So sorry about your loss of Suki. We feel badly enough they are recovering from something either painful or bothersome, and they don’t know they’re impeding their recovery process by going at the spot. I do think having something for the back legs is a good idea, too. Maybe the next Suitical product! Thanks for commenting, Linda.
